Shysie is a gentle, caring, and imaginative heifer. She is officially diagnosed with a bovine form of Apraxia of Speech (AOS), which has rendered her mute ever since she was born. In order to communicate with those she shares the valley with, Shysie began to speak through art, creating "Pictionary-art" in the dirt when trying to get her points across to her friends. Shysie also learned to write, as well as come up with her own form of sign language (with a little help of course) that others could learn and use to speak with her. Shysie was able to find the support she needed, as well as many outlets for her to express herself- and she couldn't be more grateful. Shysie always has her face in her easel, creating watercolor works of art that express her emotions, as well as to capture the charms of farm life and the holidays celebrated. More often than not, she tries her best to make light of her inabilities and work around them, however she sometimes finds herself frustrated at the prospect of never being able to truly speak. Shysie loves mocha coffees, painting and photography. She finds it flattering when people ask her to teach them sign language. or go out of thier way to teach themselves so they can understand what she's saying. |
